It may sound counter intuitive to take a breather when you’re busy juggling 10 deadlines, 3 different projects and an angry boss. In actuality, any time “lost” makes up for more increased creativity and productivity. This break allows you to discharge pent up frustrations or stresses, frees your mind, to gain new perspectives of the situation at hand.
Research has shown that every 90-120 minutes, your body has a period of significant energy and alertness followed by a period of fatigue. Work with your body to create your work schedule around your natural productivity cycle. Build mini-breaks into your work day and see your energy levels soar.
If time’s too tight for a 15-minute break, stand up and stretch. Take a walk to the pantry. Allow your blood to flow and get your body into a new position. (Need more convincing? The average desk has 400 times more bacteria than a toilet seat, making it a good reason to get out of there once in a while.)
We Singaporeans LOVE our food. We love the super shiok feeling when we satisfy our cravings with a good chicken rice or hokkien mee.

Combat the “Z-monster” with light meals filled with low Glycemic Index (think veggies, quinoa and beans). Resist the urge to reach for chips and biscuits, and replace with nutrient-rich snacks like fruits and nuts.
Better still, cut out late meals and allow your digestive system to rest. You will wake up in the morning light and refreshed, ready to take on a new day.
