When I am not feeling my best, I am able to release these feelings through flower arranging or taking a walk in the gardens and parks. Recently, whilst I was in London, I found myself looking forward to my daily morning walks in the gardens. The well-manicured plots of greenery bring so much sweetness and joy. A soothing and comfortable sight to behold.
At first, it is easy to dismiss the significance of flowers through their physical beauty; however, simply just by their quiet presence, they bring to the surface a lot of unspoken emotions, thoughts and clarity hidden deep within us. When we are totally at ease and quieten our minds, looking at the flowers, our hearts might skip a beat or flutter. That’s how the flower fairies speak to us. Through our hearts.
Flowers and nature have the power to bring us back into our inner world with joy, love and peace. Surrounding ourselves with them brings out so much lightness within us. It feels as though they are there to mother us in good times and in unpleasant times. Flower fairies are there to offer us another perspective when we feel frustrated by what is going on around us. They are there to celebrate with us in our triumphs and joy.
When I am in touch with nature, I connect with myself, my feelings. I tune out from external world and peoples opinion. There are occasions when I teared up while being with them.
Flowers and nature don’t judge. At times, we are so numb emotionally, that being with them brings out the fragility and vulnerability in us without the fear of judgement.
As I take my time to work through flower arranging, I find myself receiving healing from the sweetness of the flower fairies. The sight of flowers brings joy and uplifts my mood. Then as I work deeper, I have a glimpse of my inner feelings about myself, other people or situations. Sometimes, it can be unbearable, sometimes it’s lighthearted. It gives me the opportunity to be aware of it, to face it courageously.
The completed floral arrangement style is a statement of my spirit. Natural, flowy and so unique. Let my work be a statement of my spirit awaiting others to discover.
Wouldn’t this be a good way to know yourself better through authentic expression of your creation? At the same time as having the opportunity to enjoy the accompaniment of the flower fairies and get to know like-minded people who share the same interest as you?

Suzhen Foo will be running an introduction to an organic and irregular style of flower arrangement. This workshop is especially developed to teach you not only the aesthetics, but the spiritual elements also. The arrangement style seeks to promote harmony between human habitation and the natural world while maintaining its aesthetic looks. Most of us love to be with nature to destress and find peace and relaxation within.
