Shakti Flow is a liberating opportunity to explore movements that usually aren’t seen outside of a club, in a safe and caring environment free of judgment. In this class, we are going to move our yoga practice from the mat into the dance almost literally! Through the empowering, core-focused art-form of dance, we will awaken our inner Shakti and bring into life once again that which we have suppressed through our conditioning and experiences.
We will begin with simple yoga positions on the mat to open the hips, energize the fluid spine, connect to the core, and prep the body for dancing. We then weave our yoga directly into the dance with an introduction to the earthy, serpentine circling movements and stimulation of the second chakra — or “sacral chakra” located in the lower abdomen — to unleash that creativity. We will end off the class with a light release of “Letting go of things that are no longer required and not part of us anymore” through a small meditation and communication session.
At the end of the class, you feel energized and inspired in all parts of your body! So Let’s dance!
